About Tuesday Men's Club
Why We Gather
Sometimes we just need a space to be ourselves.
When we gather--at work, at parties, even with friends--conversation can stay at the surface. Work, sports, family updates. All good, but not always enough.
Tuesday Men's Club offers a slightly deeper alternative: a space for honest conversation about what's actually going on inside.
This isn't therapy. There's nothing to fix. We're not here to give advice or solve each other's problems. We're here to listen. To be heard. To sit with whatever is true right now.
What We've Learned
After 21 sessions, some patterns have emerged:
- Vulnerability begets vulnerability
- Silence is underrated--and rare in modern life
- No matter the age, we want to connect with others and sometimes have a hard time
- Sharing something specific may be exactly what someone else needs to hear
- In-person meditation hits different than an app
- "When was the last time you giggled?" is a harder question than you'd think
- Scrolling LinkedIn doesn't help
- We talk about boogie boarding more than you'd expect
- Zane always brings cookies
- Ice cream helps
What Members Say
"What a beautiful space the Tuesday Men's Club is for me to feel seen and heard in the presence of a group of caring, thoughtful men. This space has provided me the opportunity to take a chance on being vulnerable in a group of strangers and has consistently rewarded me with affirmation, connection, and support."-- Derek
Field Trips
Beyond Tuesday nights, we occasionally gather for outings--hikes, museum visits, meals, walks. Same spirit, different setting.
These are informal. Show up if you can. Announcements go out via email. Join the list to stay in the loop.
About the Facilitator
JC Cangilla is a father, husband, and caregiver who's spent the last few years learning how to have real conversations with other men--sometimes awkwardly, sometimes beautifully. He's been facilitating groups and practicing meditation for several years, though he'd be the first to say he's still figuring it out. He's not a therapist or a coach; just someone who believes these spaces work best when we show up with curiosity, presence, and a willingness to listen.
By day, JC runs Linslow Industries, a consulting practice for media and entertainment companies. He makes pour-over coffee every morning, has kids at both Culver Middle and El Marino Elementary, and dreams of someday taking a very long walk.
Inspiration
"Fruition" implies that at some future time you will feel good. One of the most powerful Buddhist teachings is that as long as you are wishing for things to change, they never will.-- Pema Chodron
Caretake this moment. Immerse yourself in its particulars. Quit the evasions. Stop giving yourself needless trouble. It is time to really live.-- Epictetus
It's what I live for.-- Uncle Erwin
